Extrawheel - The World's Lightest One-Wheel Bicycle Trailer

What do you get when you attach a trailer - a large wheel, really, with the load placed right at the wheelís center of gravity - to a bike with a super rigid fastening system? You get unbelievable, record-breaking, lightweight performance.
In the same way drivers donít notice luggage stored in the trunks of their cars while driving, cyclists pulling the world's lightest one-wheeled bicycle trailer (even with great loads and unbalanced loads) forget about the trailers they're towing. From city streets to narrow lanes, with small to very large loads, cyclists everywhere can completely forget theyíre pulling anything extra, let alone a loaded trailer.
The Extrawheel converts both mountain and road bikes into veritable trucks. The Extrawheel:
- Amazes cyclists with the stability that comes from its lower center of gravity.
- Prolongs the life of a bicycle's rear wheel.
- Eliminates handling problems caused by heavy loads on the back (the front wheel will no longer lose contact with the ground on those steep hills).
- Reduces the distance needed for stopping by lowering the center of gravity.
- Travels over soft surfaces (think off-road) easily because it spreads loads over a larger area and the bike's wheels have already packed the track for the trailer.
- Makes it easier to get on and off the bike as compared to a bike with a mountain of gear stowed on the rear rack.
- Carries any style of pannier depending on your use.
Advantages of our construction
Remarkable stability. Luggage piled on the trailer leans with the bike into curves, amazing cyclists with its lightweight performance. All this performance is the result of the low-key yet amazingly rigid fastening system. The hitch's arms go right in the middle of the ball-shaped joints and they only transfer longitudinal stress; just like a stick that is hard to break by pressing its ends. That's why the arms can be so thin and light.
Extrawheel's Many Unique Features
- Record-breaking Lightweight Performance: Extrawheel is the world's lightest one-wheel bicycle trailer. (Extrawheel Voyager: 8.6 lbs. with a 26-inch average-quality wheel)
- Maneuverability: Extrawheel does not change the bicycle's turning radius. This is partly due to the wheel not being placed behind the load, but instead between the load. Also, the distance between the trailer's wheel and the bicycle's back wheel is actually smaller than the bicycle's own wheelbase.
- Low Rolling Resistance: use of a large wheel.
- Functionality and Simple Operation: Extrawheel is quick and easy to attach and detach. It's also easy to load and unload thanks to its self-locking buckle that can be tightened and loosened with one hand.
- Easy Storage: the trailer is not much wider than the wheel itself, so it can be stored nearly anywhere.
- Reduced Risk of Injuries: Extrawheel's design means there are no sharp, hard parts sticking out anywhere.
- Wheel Choices: Extrawheel comes in a wide range of wheels sizes.
- Load Reduction on Bike's Rear Wheel: Due to the load being close to the Extrawheel's center of gravity, there is a minimum load placed the bicycle's rear axle, prolonging the rear tire and the axle's life.
- Simple and Safe Fastening: Fastening is easy; we designed the fork to be slightly spread open to slip over the connectors. It then squeezes the connectors to stay securely attached - no complicated clamps necessary! In the unfortunate event of an accident, the arms will release.
- Price: Extrawheel is competitively priced.
Most bikes will simply need to replace their rear quick release with Extrawheelís specially designed replacement. However, special axel nuts are also available in nearly every size imaginable.
Spare wheel
Extrawheel is the world's only large-diameter wheel bicycle trailer. This can come in handy if you have a problem with the bike's front wheel and the nearest bike shop is miles away. Simply swap the wheels so the damaged wheel can carry the lighter load of the trailer.
Bicycles
Extrawheel trailers can be attached to any bicycle, suspension system, type of brakes or with any wheel diameter and almost any wheel size (even some 29er mountain bike tires under 2" width with rounded profiles). If the bike has a internal gear hub, special nuts are available that can be put into rear rack or fender brazeons.
Extrawheel is designed for all wheel diameters: 20", 26", 27", 28". The Extrawheel can even accept some 29er tires.
